Research interests of Alain Faure include problems of robot control, development of biologically motivated algorithms of image processing and recognition, neural network algorithms and models. He published more than 120 articles and 5 monographs.
Starting 1992, LNISMS carried out collaborative research with the LACOS headed at that time by Alain Faure in the framework of international cooperation projects between KRINC RSU and Universite du Havre, France ("Modelisation de la vision biologioque et application a la vision artificielle en robotique" and "Etude theorique experimentale de la vision du contexte avec l'application aux problemes de la commande de robot").

In frameworks of collaborative research, the neural network visual sensor model imitating spatial non-uniformity retinal receptors and several other models have been developed. As a result of the joint research:

  • three books of collected articles and working materials were published;
  • 15 joint articles in international and Russian editions were published;
  • two workshops on robot vision problems were organized;
  • mutual visits of LNISMS and LACOS members were held.
