On Ilya Rybak's initiative, the Laboratory for Neural Network Modeling in Vision Research, was organized in KRINC which was later reorganized into LNISMS. He initiated research by Computational Neuroscience methods in the Laboratory and several realistic neural network models in vision were developed.

orientational selectivity of cortical neurons;

imitation of principles of foveal vision in the visual preprocessor model;

imitation of image viewing mechanisms in behavioral vision model.

Currently, Ilya Rybak continues collaborative research with LNISMS members in the frameworks of an international joint project between KRINC and School of Biomedical Engineering, Drexel University.
