Dmitry G.Shaposhnikov, PhD in Computer Science (2002, thesis: "Study and modeling of bionic principles of identification and context description of images"), senior researcher, vice-director of KRINC SFedU on informatics.

Scientific interests of Dmitry Shaposhnikov include:

  • mechanisms of interactions of central and peripheral vision fields at neuron and behavioral levels;
  • algorithms for identification of the most informative regions on images of various types;
  • development of systems for invariant image recognition on the base of biological prototypes.
  • Dmitry Shaposhnikov has more then 50 publications in Russian and international editions.
    He is the principal investigator in BRIDGE project Head Motion Detection for Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Imaging Scanning
    He participated in research on RFBR grants, projects on "Universities of Russia" Program, and international projects (Theoretical and Experimental Study of the Context Vision with Application to Robot Control Problems "Robot Vision II", Invariant Image Recognition by Identification of Their Most Informative Regions and "Real-world Images Processing by Detection of Their Stable Regions" ).
    Dmitry Shaposhnikov participated in the 4-th Finn-Russian winter school "Signs and signals: signaling in artificial and biological systems" organized by Centre for International Mobility, CIMO, Finland.
    Dmitry Shaposhnikov was supported by scholarships of RF Goverment and International Soros Science Education Program.
    He was the principal investigator in RFBR Grant No 05-01-00689 "Modeling and studying the mechanisms of choosing the most informative fragments while viewing images of different types" (2005-2007). and KRINC project "Development of user software for algorithms of face recognition for sanctioned access" (2004).
